Every summer since our organisation was founded in 2015, we have run peaceful, well-attended protests outside the Warkwork, Mid-Northern and Waikato rodeos. These protests have garnered much media attention and have contributed to the national conversation about why rodeo needs to be banned in Aotearoa New Zealand. 

 

We have been lobbying Auckland councillors and the Rodney Local Board for the last several years, calling on them to stop allowing the Warkworth Rodeo to run out of the Auckland Council-owned Warkworth Showgrounds. We presented a 5,000 signature strong petition to the Rodney Local Board in 2020 and have since presented to the board a number of times, advocating that they and Auckland Council no longer support rodeo.

 

We won’t stop until the rodeo stops for good in Aotearoa New Zealand.
